Margarita Smith

I will be teaching 8th grade physical science. I am excited about this school year as I am sure most of my students are too. My name is Margarita Smith and I was born and raised in Guatemala. I went to college in Syracuse, NY but did not like the cold weather and moved to South Carolina. There I married and had three wonderful children which are all young adults now. It is because I enjoyed my children so much and I cared deeply about their learning experiences, that I became a teacher. I have now been a teacher for seventeen years and continue to love teaching science.

I want all students and parents to know I am here to help your student be successful. If you ever have a question regarding your child, please email me at smith_margarita@aps.edu  As a general rule, I update grades on weekends. Once you see an assignment name posted in the online grade book, that means I am entering grades for students. If your child's grade does not get posted by Sunday night, there is the possibility the assignment was not turned in. If your child happens to be absent, I need them to go to the "Were You Absent" board (picture below). There they need to read on the calendar what was done and if there is a worksheet in the folder for them.

Were you absent?

what you must do if you have been absent
